My TCS NQT Journey – From Exam to Interview (Hyderabad Adibatla Campus)

Introduction

My TCS NQT journey was a very important step in my placement preparation. From writing the exam to attending the interview, every stage helped me learn and improve. In this blog, I am sharing my complete experience including preparation, exam, and interview.


Exam Preparation Strategy

Aptitude Preparation

I prepared aptitude mainly from Infosys training modules. These helped me build strong basics in:

  • Quantitative aptitude

  • Logical reasoning

  • Verbal ability

Coding Preparation

Coding was a key part of my preparation. I focused on:

  • Practicing daily

  • Understanding logic clearly

TCS NQT Exam Experience – March 26

I attended the TCS NQT exam on March 26. The exam included:

  • Quantitative Aptitude (Basic to Medium)

  • Logical Reasoning (Basic to Medium)

  • Verbal Ability (Basic to Medium)

  • Coding section

Because of my preparation, I was able to manage time well and attempt questions confidently.

Coding Performance in Exam

  • Advanced Easy Level: Solved 3 out of 7 test cases

  • Advanced Medium Level: Solved 7 out of 7 test cases


Application Form – April 4

On April 4, I received the application form mail from TCS. This was a big milestone for me.

I carefully filled the form by:

  • Providing accurate details

  • Avoiding mistakes in academic and personal information


Interview Call – April 16

I received my interview mail on April 16, which included:

  • Panel number

  • Interview schedule (April 19)

My interview was conducted on April 20 at TCS Hyderabad, Adibatla campus.


Interview Preparation Strategy

I followed a structured 3-day plan:

Day 1 (April 17) – Core Programming

  • Java

  • Git

  • Python

  • C

Day 2 (April 18) – Database & Networking

  • DBMS

  • SQL

  • Computer Networking

  • DevOps basics

Day 3 (April 19) – Advanced & Revision

  • AWS Cloud

  • AI, ML, DL & Generative AI

  • HR & Managerial questions

  • TCS PrepInsta (basic coding)

I also updated my resume by removing topics I was not confident about. This helped me answer honestly.


Interview Process (TR + MR)

Questions Asked in Interview

1. Project-Based Questions

  • Explain your project

  • In-depth implementation questions

  • “How did you implement it?”

Tip: Be clear with architecture and flow.

2. DevOps & Docker

  • Docker commands

  • What is Docker?

  • What is a Container?

  • Draw CI/CD pipeline

  • What is CI/CD?

  • Write a YAML file

I explained my project from scratch in a structured way:

  • Problem Statement

  • Working of the Application

  • My Role in the project

  • Tools used and why I used them

  • Step-by-step implementation

Tools I Explained:

  1. Docker – for containerization

  2. Kubernetes – for container orchestration

  3. CI/CD – for automation of build, test, and deployment

  4. Jenkins – for implementing CI/CD pipeline

3. AWS Scenario-Based

  • What will you do during user traffic spike?

  • How will you restore data?

  • How do you manage access in AWS?

4. Role Preference

They asked:
“Which role do you want?”

This was based on my skills (Python, Java, AWS, DevOps).

👉 If you fail TR/MR → eliminated 
👉 If cleared → HR round 

HR Round Selection

Within two minutes after the interview, I was informed that I was selected for the HR round.


HR Round Experience

The HR round was smooth and verification-focused.

Questions Asked

  • Do you have any backlogs or career gaps? (Batch: 2026)

  • Why TCS?

  • Why should we hire you?

  • What does your father do?

  • What does your mother/sister do and where do they work?

  • Where did you travel from for the interview?

  • Choose your top 3 preferred locations

  • Did you come alone? Is it safe to travel alone?

Overall Experience

The HR round went well. The questions were simple and focused on background verification and basic HR understanding. I answered confidently and clearly.
